March 18, 2025
Norfolk, VA – Steel Services, Inc. is proud to celebrate the success of our Norfolk branch on their recent supplier performance score of 100% from Newport News Shipbuilding.
The score is based on material receipt quality, performance quality, and delivery quality. Steel Services scored 15% higher than comparable metal suppliers, a reflection of our company's steadfast commitment to outstanding quality, first-rate service, and customer satisfaction.
Susan Rathbone, Assistant General Manager of the Norfolk branch, shared insight on why this performance report is so significant. “Newport News Shipbuilding is a very important customer to us. The material supplied to Newport News Shipbuilding supports their construction of both nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers. The audited QA system adhered to by the Norfolk team has made us a long-time successful participant in the shipyard’s SDI (Supplier Delegated Inspection) program. Inclusion in this program indicates that both hardware and software material inspections are completed at our branch, and subsequently delivered directly to the ship for installation. They place a lot of trust in Steel Services to do exactly what they ask of us. Maintaining that trust is a top priority.”
The receipt of this report for our Norfolk, Virginia branch affirms the exceptional work and dedication demonstrated by the entire team there, whose diligent efforts have consistently delivered unparalleled value to our customers.
This perfect scorecard comes on the heels of another distinguishing achievement for Steel Services - the Norfolk branch was recently recognized as the Best Overall Supplier for 2024 by Sumitomo Drive Technologies.
We're delighted to share the latest success of our Norfolk team, and would like to express our genuine thanks to Newport News Shipbuilding for their collaborative partnership and gratifying feedback. We hope to continue to meet and exceed your expectations of Steel Services.
Congratulations to the entire Norfolk team on this noteworthy achievement!
